A shape for pressure-broadened lines applicable from the central region tothe far wings is obtained by combining the Lorentz shape with the statisticalshape. This line shape is compared with the Varanasi et al.'s super-Lorentz shapewith the same values for intensity and line width. The measured transmittances ofNO and CO.-broadened HCI lines are well represented by tlais line shape.
