The theory described in an earlier paper [M. Takashima: J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 47(1979) 13214 is extended to imaclude the possibility of' overstability. Linear stabilitytheory is applied to derive a time-dependent eigenva.1ue relationship which is thencomputed numerically. It is shown that dependi?ag on the values of v?triousdimensionless parameters, instability can set in eitlmer as a stationary convectionor as overstability.
