Gaseous flow in a rapidly rotating short cylinder is studied within the frameworlcof a linear treatment. Since the aspect ratio of the cylinder is assumed tc>be of theorder of E"", where E is the Lkmaut rnumber, a viscous force is dominant through-out the flow region. Meridional flow is induced either by a temperature differenceof the top and bottom end plates or by a differential rotation of the cylirrder walls. The flow region is divided into an Bkman-layer like region and a cor?aer regionwith the dimeuasion of E"' X E"'. The equation governing the latter corner regionis (A'%a'8'/8')y=0, which is solvecl by an expansion technique.
