Stokes and anti-Stokes Raman spedtra havze been measured in living cellsof Chlorella vulgaris as well as in chloroform, toluene, benzene and 7-carotene.Population in the vibrational state has been d<:termiraed by taking acc:ottnt ofresonance Ra?man effect. The result shows that this populatiott is well explainedby thermal distribution even in the case of living biological cells, corntrary torecently reported observation of some populatic>n enhancement. Possible expert-mental artifacts are discussed.
