A naodel of the resonant Raman scattering (RRS) is constructe?J, in whichoptically created exciton is resonantly decomposed into an electron in the con-tinuunt and a localised hole. This RRS via virtual exciton results in the so calleddouble resonance and enhancemernt of<7:0 LO phonon scattering iua an appro-priate condition. If the p-s exciton in this model is replaced by the 4f-5d exciton, this nuodel presents one of the possible mechanisms which explairx the sharpRRS of (:0 LO phonon observcd in rare-earth chalcogenides in spite of itsforbidden symmetry.
