• The Onodera model of electron-hole exchange coupling at an L..,... X-rayedge is extended (i) giving a lineshape formula expressed in terms of experimentallyaccessible quantities, and (ii) providing a means of accounting approximately forthe energy dependences of both the absorption spectrum ttbove threshold andthe exchange interaction. The experimental implications are discussed.
