The Laue equation for atom diffraction by crystal surfaces is generalized toinclude the effects of the atoun-phonon interactions exactly. An intensity formulanear resonance is derived on the basis of the generalized Laue equation. Thediffraction antpljtude T is written as the sum of the amplitude T, due to the poten-tial scatterinx and the anarlitude T. due to the resonance scatterinn. The resonancewidth and the shift of the resonance energy are involved in the expression for T.Provided that near resonance the variation of T. with the incident conditions aremuch more larser than that of T, it is predicted from the intensity formula thatthe resonance min.inaa and resonance naaxinaa appear in the intensity curves forthe specular and non-specular beams, respectively. The intensity formula isapplied to the analysis of intensity profiles near resonance for the H8NaF(001)system.
