Using the approach of Yamashita and Nakamura we consider the effect of induced phonons on the current arising from an applied A.C.field in a piezoelectric semiconductor. We restrict the calculation to the region where the amplitude of the drift velocity of the electrons is less than the velocity of sound. We find that for CdS at 30K there is a critical frequency of the applied field ω_c-10^8sec^<-1>, such that the amplitude of the drift current is constant for ω≪ω_c and drops to another constant value for ω≫ω_c. We find that the current lags behind the applied field with a phase which has a maximum in the neighbourhood of ω_c.
