The index matching angle for SHG in KDP shows linear decrease with temperature in the range from the room temperature to about 200K, below which the temperature dependence deviates from the linear relation. The linear decrease can be explained by the temperature dependence of the refractive index calculated with Phillips' formula. A discussion is presented to explain the deviation, assuming that the mean square of the ionic displacement in the c direction is not zero in this temperature region, and the electronic process is influenced by the ionic motion through Kleinman's higher order energy function.
