The optical Zeeman effect measurements for Dy^<3+> in YalO_3 have been made at 4.2°K. The angular dependence of g-values in the ground state (^6H_<(15)/2>) is highly anisotropic, (g_z'=18.7±0.6, G_x', G_y'∼0). One of the principal axes (Z' axis) of the g-tensor is in the direction deviated by the angle of 31° from the [010] axis in the (001) plane. The angular dependence of g-values in the excited states (^6F_<5/2>) is less anisotropic than that in the ground state. The direction of Z' axis in each crystal-field state is different and an explanation is proposed to interpret this result.
