Electron paramagnetic resonance techniques have been applied to investigate thevariation of population distribution with temperature and time between nearest andnext nearest neighbour V"-vacancy dipoles. The process involves the rate W. atwhich a next nearest vacancy interchanges its position with a particular nearestneighbour Na", and the rate W. of the inverse process to that of W.. The processeswere investigated in the temperature range from 20'C down to - 110'C. The jumpingfrequencies can be expressed in the Arrhenius forms W.=A. exp ( -E./kT) andF.=.4.exp ( -E./kT) with the values: A.=3.45 XIO""s ',A.= 1.27 X 10"""s 'A3=0.4876f0.01O eV and f.=O.5O5l +o.oto eV.
