The flow induced by an oscillating sphere in a viscous fluid otherwise at rest isanalyzed theoretically. The sphere oscillate asymmetrically itt translational directionwith small amplitude. The steady secondary flow which occurs outside the boundarylayer around the sphere is studied by using the method of matched asymptotic expan-sion. It is found that the asymmetrical steady flow, which vanishes at infinity, is in-duced near the sphere. The steady drag exerted on the sphere also obtained.
