Theoretical Study of Magnetic and Optical Properties of Pseudo-One-Dimensional System RbFeCl_3

Magnetic properties in the paramagnetic phase of pseudo-one-dimensionalsystem RbFeC1. are studied within a linear chain model on the basis of theD>'namical CEFA (Correlated-Effective-Field Ar>r>roximation). The results ofcalculation, the masnetic suscer>tibilitv, the temr>erature and maxnetic-fieldder>endences of the maenon enernv and the ma:non disr>ersion, can well exr:>lainthe experimental results. The gap energy D between the ground state and theexcited doublet of the Fe" ton is conclusively estimated to be >14.0 cm -". Thepossibility of two-magnon Raman scattering is also predicted and the temperaturedependences of the Raman line shape and the integrated intensity are calculated.
