Magnetic Properties of a Ternary Alloy Mn_<0.5>V_<0.5-y>Al_y

The saturation magnetization per Mn atom P, at 4.2 K was obtained with arelation P,=3.8y jt. for .);.<y<0.35 and P,=2.Sy p. for y<y. in Mn ..5 Vg.5=,Al,. Here y.:0.2 which correspornds to the concentration at the boundary be-tween B2 and L2. (Heusler) structures. The "Mn NMR frequency a.t 4.2 K alsoappeared to increase with increasing y. On the other hand, the valuc of 7'. whichis defined bv CzNttsP.(P.-F-2)/3k in relation to the Curie constant C, has almostthe same value as ?, for ,)z.<y<0.35, but P. for y<y. is very different from P,.The Curie temperature 7'C and the paramagnetic Curie point 0, showed maximumvalues 760 and 800 K, respectively, at .}'=0.25. The present results indicate thatthere is no direct correlation of IC or 0, with the Mn magnetic mon??ent.
