A system of 1-D transport codes has been developed for studying the dischargeprocesses of compressional tokamak plasma in the Tuman-2, Tosca, and STP-3devices. The code includes the effects of neutrals and impurity radiation. Themodel provides reasonably good fits of the main data from the experiments ofTosca and Tuman-2. The computational predictions for the STP-3 device arealso presented. The computed results show that the average ion temperature ofthe STP-3 discharge with compression is about twice the value without compres-sion. The higher the Ohmic heating power, the slower the optimum compressiontime becomes.
