The attenuation coefficient ct in db/cm at different temperatures and frequencieshas been calculated from Lamberts' absorption formula for three different liquidssuch as acetone, methylethylketone and diethylketone. The position of maximumabsorption for all the three liquids shifts towards higher frequency with theincrease of temperature and towards lower frequency with the increase of thenumber of CHI. groups in the molecules. Further it is observed that the heightof the absorr>tion r>eak for CH3C0CH3 and C2II5C0C2H5, which containidentical alkyl group increases with decrease of temperature where as in the caseof Cl-I,C0C.H, the height of the absorption peak instead of increasing dimin-ishes with lowering of temperature. This may be due to the fact that the methylcompound in particular show certain abnormality as has been reported. In thispaper the abnormality has been assumed to be due to the fact that at lower tem-perature the molecules abruptly form groups which produces a resultant electricmoment less than that of single molecule.
