The stationary shock-like solution which is derived from wave kinetic equations with group velocity dispersion is studied analytically. Also, some initial value problems involving the propagation and formation of the shock are investigated numerically; a remarkable stability of the shock is exhibited. The shocks are formed even from initial states which are fairly different from the stationary state. As an example the interaction among two Langmuir waves and one ion-acoustic wave is considered.
