Localized Moment in Ni_<0.95>Cr_<0.05> Alloy

Magnetic from factor of Ni-Cr alloy with 4.5 at % Cr was measured by the polarized neutron diffraction method. From the form factor analysis, the mean localized moments of Ni and Cr were determined as 0.356±0.002μ_B at room temperature respectively. The rate of decrease of the mean localized moment of Ni at 0 K with respect to the Cr concentration ∂μ_N1/∂c=-5.8±0.2μ_B is slightly steeper than that of the bulk moment. From this and from disturbance parameters of Cr in the Co_<0.95>Cr_<0.05> alloy, the magnetic clusters around each environment dependent moment of Ni atoms in the Ni_<0.95>Cr_<0.05> alloy were calculated.
