^<51>V and ^<55>Mn Hyperfine Fields in the L2_1-Type Fe_2Mn_<1-x>V_xSi and Fe_2T_<1-x>Cr_xSi (T=V, Mn) Compounds

Hyperfine fields have been measured by the NMR spin-echo technique in zero external field at 4. 2K for intermetallic compounds Fe_2Mn_<1-x>V_xSi and Fe_2T_<1-x>Cr_xSi (T=V, Mn). The average Fe and Mn magnetic moments are derived using the relations between the hyperfine fields and the atomic magnetic moments in the isomorphic compounds. These moments in Fe_2Mn_<1-x>V_xSi increase monotonically with increasing x ; for Fe from 0.35μ_B at x=0.2 to 0.5μ_B at x=0.75 ; and for Mn from 2.4μ_B at x=0.2 to 3μ_B at x=0.8. The extrapolation to the V-rich side gives 0.5μ_B/Fe in Fe_2VSi, which is consistent with an extrapolated saturation moment of 1.1μ_B/f.u. The results in Fe_2T_<1-x>Cr_xSi (T=V, Mn) are also discussed. From these together with saturation moments the transition from a ferromagnetic to an antiferromagnetic ordering on the V-rich side in Fe_2(Mn, V)Si and Fe_2(V, Cr)Si is suggested.
