Quasi-two-dimensional vortex pairs induced by the Lorentz force due to an electrolytic current interacting with a moving magnetic field were investigated using a flow visualization technique. Steady symmetric vortex pairs were found to form in a limited range of Reynolds number and reduced Lorentz force. It was also found that at large values of the force periodic vortical wakes are formed with the Strouhal number of about 0.1.
