Magnetic susceptibility and specific heat of Cu(NH_3)_4SO_4・H_2O can conclusively be accounted for as those of linear chain antiferromagnet comparing with theoretical studies by Griffiths and Bonner and Fisher in which Heisenberg model was used. Fairly good agreement between the theory and the experiment is obtaind using only one parameter J/k(=3.15°K) as exchange interaction constant within linear chain. Recently magnetization of Heisenberg model linear chain antiferromagnet at absolute zero temperature has been calculated by Bulaevskil and Griffiths. Inawashiro and Katsura calculated the magnetization at zero and finite temperatures. We have measured the magnetization of Cu(NH_3)_4SO_4・H_2O at He temperatures under the external field up to about 9O KOe by recording flux meter method. The magnetization curves of three crystalline axes are qualitatively in agreement with each other having the characteristic of Inawashiro and Katsura's curve. The averaged values of three axes are sbown in Fig. 1 together with theoretical curves for Ising and Heisenberg model linear antiferromagnet. Experimental points are plotted in the figure in reference with the interaction constant J/k=3.15°K which was determind by susceptibility and specific heat data. Agreement between the experimental result and the Heisenberg spin model is reasonably well down to temperaturer 1°K.
