The 12th Annual Convention of the Japanese Association of Educational Psychology was held at Kyoto University of Education on October 1-3, 1970. The Chairman of the Convention was Prof.J.Shikata, Kyoto University of Education. Four hundred and thirty-three regular members, sixty-five temporary members, and seventy-two student members participated in the Convention. One hundred ninety-eight studies were presented by regular members in six divisions: theorem; cognition and learning; instruction and measurement of ability; personality and its assessment; human relationship; defect in development and maladjustment. A bulletin containing the summaries of those studies was distributed to each member beforehand. The reports "Developmental Study of Acquisition and Systematization of Knowledge: VIII, IX, X" were presented by the members of the Department of Psychology, Kyoto University of Education. A summary of the reports is found in this volume. Four symposia were conducted under the following titles: "Cognitive Motivation in Learning", "On Education to facilitate the Development of Mentally Retarded Children", "Problems of Sex Difference in School Education", and "Merits and Demerits of Educational System using a Computer". Their brief summaries are also found in this volume.
