The ecology of a number of the reef fish has been studied by means of underwater observation around 6 different reefs in two times, June 1973 and Aug. 1974. Mode of distribution of reef fish was different from one station to another, because of different environmental condition at each station, exlocation, extention, roughness and depth of the reef and so on. Especially, mode of distribution of Agrammus agrammus and Hexagrammos otakii were different from each other. The former species, whether young or old fish, stays on the small algal zone of the shallow part of the reef. But the distribution of latter species is different between young fish and old fish. Young, 0 year old fishes distributed widely in habitat range and living in whether shallow or deep water, but over 1 year old fishes living in the boulder bottom area in deep water.
