The aim of this paper is to clarify changes in children's life in postwar Japan, which is divided into three periods : 1945 to 1959, 1960 to 1974, and 1975 to present. I analyze the changes using two approaches : life cycle and review of children. In the postwar period, the unit of children's life cycle has shortened. The unit in the first period was "annual events," while for the second period, it was "month," and for the third period, it was "week." As for review of children, I prove that the first period treats children in "idea and community," while the second period is "the mass media" and the third period "school." This paper highlights that children are increasingly shut into a society of "school."
