Some aspects of the renormalization and exchange phenomena due to the pion-nucleon couplings in nuclei are discussed in Parts I and II, respectively. In Part I a simple model assuming the one-pion exchange is examined in detail, and the low energy theorems having more general validities are reviewed pedagogically. In Part II, special emphasis is placed on the PCAC theory and related subjects. Renormalization effects due to the virtual production of Δ-hole pairs and the nuclear core polarization are treated from a unifying viewpoint on the basis of the Green function method.
