We study the minimal S_3 symmetric model, which is obtained by restricting two Yukawa couplings in both the charged lepton and neutrino sectors in the case that the lightest neutrino mass is non-zero. We restricted the Yukawa couplings by Z_n symmetry. It is known that at least one such model exists when the vacuum expectation value of the Higgs is real. Because it was shown that the vacuum expectation value of the Higgs in the S_3 symmetric model can be complex, we investigate how the minimal model can be consistent with experiments, including the case in which the vacuum expectation value of the Higgs is complex. We find that a few models are consistent with experiments. Moreover, we investigate the case in which the Yukawa couplings are restricted as an ansatz. We then find some models that satisfy the experimental condition.
