Determination of phosphoric acid and potassium removed from the soil by electrodialysis was made by the use of Mattson's cell. Phosphoric acid so dialyzed was compared in its amount to the coefficient of naturaly supplied phosphoric acid of the soil, the coefficient being calculated from the result of 12 or 13-years continued pot experiment with paddy rice. Consideration was made also on the relation between the amount of dialyzed phosphoric acid and that of dialyzed potassium. The results were observed as follows : (1) Phosphoric acid was observed to be dialyzed in a large amount always from the soils which had the large coefficient of naturaly supplied phosphoric acid, consequently which were considered to maintain the available phosphoric acid in sufficient amount to the plant growth. (2) General tendency was observed for the amount of dialyzed potassium to increase with the increasing amount of dialyzed phosphoric acid. (3) No relation was confirmed between the amount of dialyzed potassium and the coefficient of naturaly supplied potassium owing to that applied soil samples did not include those which have the smaller coefficient. According to the above results it was concluded that the electrodialysis method may be recognized as one of the tentative means of determining the amount of available phosphoric acid to the plant growth in soils.
