Methods of photometric and colorimetric measurement of color TV picture tubes are proposed. In these methods, spectral sensitivities of the photometer and colorimeter are not responsible for measurement errors. These methods use the primary-color standards, red, green and blue, to calibrate the photometer and colorimeter. Each standard has the same spectral power distribution as the primary phosphor in the color picture tube to be measured. Photometric and colorimetric errors in these methods are discussed. The results show that these errors depend mainly on errors in calibrating the primary-color standards. Therefore, it is possible to carry out accurate photometric and colorimetric measurements of color TV picture tubes on tube production lines by calibrating carefully the primary-color standards at a laboratory.
