The author carried out a series of the high temperature tension test of the miscellaneous steel bars produced at Yabata Iron and Steel Works, Japan, namely, carbon steel (0.07∿1.06%C), silicon steel for electrical sheet "T" and "B", stainless steel, and Cr-Mn steel. All the test specimens are hot-worked and finished to 16mm dia without machining, and the testing temperature covered from room temp. to 1450℃, stepwisely at 50℃. As the resalts of this experiments, it has been ascertained that ; 1. Low carbon stee's have the characteristic temperature range of the somewhat increasing tensile strength and decreasing elongation at about 900℃. But, generally, each kind of steels extremely decreases its tensile strength and increases elongation above 800℃ without much difference each other, showing that suitable temperature for rolling or forging is 800∿1250℃ and the value is approximately 3∿7 kg per mm^2 at 1000℃. 2. Silicon steel "T" and "B" have slightly high value of elongation and reduction of area at temperature range 800∿900℃ 3. Cr-Mn steel shows twice as large a tensile strength as that of any other steels at about 1000℃ and the minor crack at the rupture portion at temperature range 1000∿1150℃, suggested the difficulty in rolling or forging.
