The purpose of this study was to prove that lnternational Students are essential to the desired　academic credentials of the university community, and that this community should become more　international. This study reviewed the plan to accept International Students suggested by the Japanese Government, and examined the data that has been gathered from students' papers written in a class on 'Introduction to Comparative Culture' at the department of Humanities, Toyama University. Data collection occurred over a four-month (2003/4-7) period. Questionnaires from students that participated in the class on 'Contemporary Japan Studies' , offered by the International Student Center since 0ctober 1999, were also examined. The result of the examination into the data showed that International Students have had a great influence on Japanese students in their understanding and acceptance of different cultures. Therefore, bringing International Students into the university community is essential if the Japanese students are to become more international and more mature.
