The charge transfer occurs in the crystals when the clcctronegativity and/or atomic size are different between solvent and solute atoms, and results in the formation of atom-pairs. This is reasonably concluded from the experimental results that the same three new peaks appear in the aluminum L_<2,3>VV spectrum of Auger valence electron spectroscopy not only in all kinds of G.P. zones, and θ'-phase but also in θ-phase in Al-2.2at%Cu crystals. In the present report, the formation mechanism of the these atom-pairs, i.e., electric dipoles, is discussed based 011 the experimental results. Furthermore, the diffusion mechanism of solute atoms, the formation mechanisms of atom clusters and various types of G.P. zones, and the transition mechanism from G.P. zones to θ'-phase in Al-Cu alloys are also discussed in terms of the electric dipoles.
