The Bloomsbury is the group of rather spontaneously gathered intimate friends who had no particular doctrine, no code of conduct, no literary principle. There will be some difficulty when we come to enumerate the names of people who belonged to the group correctly. Notwithstanding the fact that Forster was not a frequent attendant to their meeting, he is never to fail to be named as one of the Old Bloomsbury Group. The ideals, beliefs and tastes of the original members of Bloomsbury that were expressed in art, literature, economics, and politics, display the overlapping and criss-crossing similarity. In this treatise I followed up Forster's intercourse and friendship with the members of the Bloomsbury group before and during the First World War. They did not approve of the war and some of them had to be summoned to the Tribunal as conscientious objectors. My intention is to make it clear in following up their intercourse that Forster had a strong spiritual bond with them.
