This study examined effects of imagery on movement during an image-motortask by measuring body sway. Subjects were 6 ski club members and 12 ski nonexperienced persons. They were randomly allocated to an experimental group (E-G)and a control group(CG). They were asked to move their bodies like during playing ski with vivid image of the scene. The experiment was constructed from five experimental sessions, one session consisted of two operations. Between the two operations the subjects in the E-G did image training and the subjects in the C-G took a five-minute rest. The result was that in the subjects of E-G who have experienced the pattern of the body sway came to be united as the sessions progressed. That is to say, the stability of the image-motor task was advanced by the image training. However, in the subjects of E-G who have not experienced Alpine ski the patterns of the body sway were random through all the sessions. This suggested that image-training had no effect for them.
