The purpose of this note is to introduce the outline of the political and economic activities of Gouverneur Morris (1752-1816), who was one of the Nationalists who supported Robert Morris's financial policy in the latter end of the American Revolution. The Nationalists rose to be the Federalists who took a course of action that sustained national unity in the postwar years and eventually realized the making of the Constitution and the enactment of the Hamiltonian funding program. In this country, the scholars specializing in the study of the American Revolution or the Confederation, have not tried to analyze thoroughly the historical and substantial activities of such Nationalists. The writer of this note, through the introduction of the outline of the political and eeonomic activities of Gouverneur Morris, tries to find a clue to the study of the Nationalists.
