Genetic algorithms (GAs) have been applied to spin clusters. A simple example is demonstrated by GAs using the J_<ab> values calculated by the ab initio MO method. From the calculated results, we find that GAs are good at optimization methods and thermodynamical calculations because GAs frequently can avoid the local minima.
