Collective Hamiltonian in the Adiabatic Approximation

The time-dependent variational principle is used to derive the approximate time evolution of state vectors parametrized by restricted sets of variables. The adiabatic approximation is discussed. The formalism developed is applied to the description of the collective motion of elipsoidal nuclei.
