The effect of fluctuations on the Peierls transition in quasi-one-dimensional systems is investigated within a renormalized random phase approximation in the half-filled tight-binding model. The fluctuations are divided into two part; thermal fluctuations and zero point fluctuations. It is shown that the effects of the thermal fluctuations is always dominant even if the transition temperature is extremely low.
