Volume-Dependent Cluster Sums for Lattice Gases. III : Patterns of Seven or Eight Particles and Expressions for the Cluster Sums

In order to calculate the volume-dependent cluster sums for three-dimensional (simple cubic), two-dimensional (square) and one-dimensional lattice gases with nearest-neighbour interactions by the method developed in a preceding paper I, all the patterns (defined in I) of seven or eight particles are described and their characteristic factors are calculated. Some examples of calculation of the characteristic factors are given. With the use of the characteristic factors of the patterns obtained in the present paper and the values of the prototypes obtained in preceding papers I and II, and by means of the formula derived in I, the Temperley coefficients c_m for m=7,8 are evaluated. From these and the c_m for m>__=6 calculated in I, exact expressions for the volume-dependent cluster sums composed of eight or less particles are obtained by means of the relations (given in I) between the c_m and the cluster sums. Hypercomplex numbers are used to represent values for the three-, two- and one- dimensional cases simultaneously.
