The alpha-deuteron cluster structure of the ground state of ^<6>Li is investigated by sovling the coupled equation for the relative motion between the clusters. The equation is derived by using the resonating group method and taking into account the D-state of the deuteron cluster. Realistic two-nucleon potentials are employed consistently to explain the total binding energy, the relative binding energy between the clusters, the root-mean-square radius and the elastic charge form factor. It is shown that the essential feature of the relative motion is very sensitive to the odd state potential and the tensor force. Fairly good wave functions for the relative motion are obtained and the nodal behaviour of these wave functions is discussed.
