Recent progress in spectroscopic studies of NO_2, C_2H_2 and SO_2 is reviewed on the basis of the current understanding of chaotic behavior of quantum systems. It is shown that both of the stimulated emission pumping spectroscopy and the dispersed fluorescence spectroscopy are powerful techniques to uncover the level structure of simple polyatomic molecules in the vibrationally highly excited region, where the signature of vibrational chaos is expected to be detected.
