Observational constraints on the early history of the Earth are discussed on the basis of noble gas chronology and geochemistry. Especially, we discuss a rather long (about 1 × 10^8 yr) formation interval between meteorites and the Earth estimated by I-Xe and Pu-Xe chronologies, origin of fractionation of Xe isotopes in Earth's atmosphere relative to solar or meteoritic Xe, excess ^<129>Xe and excess ^<131-136>Xe in mantle-derived samples and their inferences on the early history of the solid Earth-atmosphere system, and the possible presence of a solar component in Earth's mantle.
