Rigorous Analyses on Order Parameters and Charged States in the Lattice Abelian-Higgs Model

The phase structures of the abelian-Higgs model are analyzed, paying special attention to the difference between compact and non-compact formulation. The main purpose in this paper is to consider the meaning of confinement in the presence of matter fields and discuss what order parameters one should take to characterize the phases in view of confinement. We propose possible non-local order parameters which test the confinement-deconfinement transition. In addition, some recent developments of rigorous studies on related topics are reviewed.
