From the theoretical point of view, magnetic properties of pseudo-binary compounds Y(Fe, Al)_2 and Y(Co, Al)_2 with the cubic Laves phase structure are reviewed. Assuming an ordered atomic structure, the electronic structures in these compounds are calculated in the self-consistent augmented-plane-wave (APW) method, and the effect of the Al atoms on the magnetic properties is discussed.
