• I review the saga of photoexcitations in trans-(CH)_x as of 1992. I show that both neutral and charged solitons are photogenerated with high quantum efficiency. We followed their dynamics from subpicosecond to tens of milliseconds and show that interesting physics can be extracted from the transient response in each time domain.
