Taking both correlated and uncorrelated diquarks into account, we first give a general discussion of how diquarks contribute to baryon production. We then present an extended version of the recursive cascade model of quark and diquark fragmentation into mesons and baryons. Assuming that the momentum-sharing functions obey a sort of counting rule, an analytic solution including flavor dependence is obtained. Numerical results for several typical cases are compared, which illustrates that fragmentation functions into baryons depend heavily on whether diquarks are correlated or uncorrelated.
