Following a previous paper, we consider free quarks outside a spherical bag as a system of interacting Nambu-Goldstone modes associated with the breaking of chiral symmetry. Abstracting from the model, we find that a free pseudoscalar over the whole of space admits a simple representation as a bilinear in fermions. The possibility of using a mixture of local and spectral boundary conditions is also briefly discussed.
