Applying the renormalization group method and through the magnetic permeability of the Euclidean vacuum, we trace the effect of instantons on effective coupling constants of the SU(2) and SU(3) gauge fields contained in the unifying SU(5) group. The φ-meson mass is discussed as an experimental evidence of the instanton effect.
