A thermodynamic potential foe an interacting electron-phonon system is formally expressed as the sum of two thermodynamic potentials; one for a many-particle electron system and the other is for a phonon system. In this paper, a new idea is introduced about the treatment for the interaction constant, which is an essential component. It is shown that we can transform this formal expression into a more practical one based on a procedure used in a previous publication [Prog. Theor. Phys. 88 (1992), 443]. We then are able to obtain general forms for the entropy and heat capacity of the system. The well-known low temperature dependence of the heat capacity of normal metals as an example of an electron-phonon system is also derived to show that their transformation can be easily controlled.
