A canonical formulation of QED in the ∂_0A_0=0 gauge is constructed as a natural step to introduce ghost operators into the temporal gauge formulation. Gauss's law is implemented in the same manner as in the covariant gauges. To restore the Lorentz covariance and impose Gauss's law constraints compatibly, exactly conserved Lorentz transformation generators are defined by subtracting nonconserving parts from generators defined in the usual way. These new generators include a gauge transformation which restores the gauge condition ∂_0A_0=0 in any Lorentz frame. The Poincare algebra is also shown to hold in the physical subspace. Longitudinal propagator of the free fields in the temporal gauge is invariant under time translation. Revised operator solution of the Schwinger model in the temporal gauge is also given to examine that our procedure works consistently.
