Phase structures and stability of the vacuum are studied in some perturbatively nonrenormalizable but 1/N renormalizable models, using the Gaussian variational and the effective potential methods up to the next-to-leading order in 1/N. The models discussed are O(N)(φ^2)^2_<d=5>, O(N)(NLσ)_<d=3> and (G-N)_<d=3>. Except that these models have several phases separated by a finite ultraviolet fixed point, general behaviors of these models are very similar to those of corresponding asymptotically free models, O(N)(φ^2)^2_<d=4>, O(N)(NLσ)_<d=2> and (G-N)_<d=2>.
